1. The first step to complete our online Adoption Application. This is our screening
and allows us to match our potential adopters with a dal that will best fit into their
lifestyle. You can also request an application by sending an email to
dalirious@dalpals.org .
2. Next, Carolina Dal Pals will review your application and check the references
provided. Our Adoption Application asks for a reference from a Veterinarian,
however, if you are unable to provide us with this, please let us know, and we will
discuss with you how we can proceed in this case.
3. After your application is reviewed, a Home Visit will be scheduled. We will need ALL
family members and pets to be present at the time of of the home visit. We don't
come by to see how clean your house is, rather, it is another method we use to
ensure compatibility between your lifestyle and one of our dals.
4. Following the home visit, all information will be re-evaluated and a determination will
be made by our members. If your home is APPROVED for adoption, we will schedule a
meeting with the particular dog/dogs. If you choose to adopt, then the final step is to
complete an Adoption Contract and submit the Adoption Fee.
The Adoption Fee helps cover our costs in providing medical care and basic needs
for the dals in our care. Each dog adopted through Carolina Dal Pals will be spayed
or neutered, up to date on all shots, heartworm tested, microchipped and on flea and
tick prevention. You will receive copies of all Vet records at time of adoption. Our
standard adoption fee is $200. Care of these dals can be very costly and usually our
adoption fee does not cover all the costs incurred. We do discount some adoption fees
for older dogs or special circumstances.
5. If you know you want to adopt a Dalmatian, but you are interested in a specific age,
sex, color, or personality and there isn't a dog currently available for adoption that
matches your desires, you can request an Adoption Application, submit it, and we can
complete a home visit, and you can become a PRE-APPROVED home. Then, when
the perfect match presents itself, the adoption process has already been completed.
6. An application does not obligate you to adopt a dog from Carolina Dal Pals. As
well, a completed application does not guarantee a dog will be adopted to you. We
attempt to place our dogs in the most suitable environment, therefore, we do not
operate on a first come, first served basis. However, all things being equal in the
home environments, we will try to honor those who contacted us first regarding
a dog.
7. We attempt to provide the most accurate evaluation and description of the dogs we
are attempting to place into homes, however, Carolina Dal Pals can not guarantee
the age, health, or temperament of any animal. We will not knowingly place an aggressive
animal into any home. We will provide you with any information known on an animal at
time of inquiry. However, Carolina Dal Pals will not accept liability for the actions of or
any problems arising from an adopted Dalmatian. All adoptions are at the risk of the
adopter.
8. If you adopt from us, we reserve the right to call, visit, or email you to inquire
about the well-being of the adopted dal. We put a lot of time, effort, money, and love
into these animals and we want to ensure that they receive the same loving care they
were given by us. We also ask that adoptive homes provide us with occasional
updates on the adopted dog.
