Kimmie's ER Visit - Preparing for her Blood Transfusion

Kimmie came to us from a shelter in NC.  She was high heartworm positive even though she was only 2 years old.  Kimmie suffered some complications from heartworm treatment and ended up in kidney failure and needing a blood transfusion to save her life.  Kimmie's Vet bills keep mounting but she has seemed to have turned the corner.  Her ER bill was $1000 alone, so we are in desperate need of sponsors to help us with this sweet girl!

UPDATE:   3/3/08  Kimmie is doing better.  1 week now and her blood results show she is holding her own.  She is still under the Vet's care and they are still trying to figure out what is going on with her kidneys, but she is out of acute danger right now.

Miss Piper

Miss Piper came to us from a shelter in GA.  She was in rough shape, but it wasn't until she was in her foster home that he foster mom realized Miss Piper had something really wrong with her leg.  Miss Piper had a dislocated rear leg.  It was an old injury and grown arthritic so the only thing that could be done to lessen Miss Piper's pain was to fuse her joint.

Well, here is Miss Piper after surgery...

The poor girl is going to have the metal fixator attached to her leg for 10 to 12 weeks.  She is a trooper though and adapting really well.   Piper's surgery was very costly and took much of our rescue funds.   You can help us by sponsoring Miss Piper!!!  We would greatly appreciate any help!   Any amount!!

Dal Pals would like to thank Miss Piper's foster mom, Ande West, and the wonderful Vet, Dr. Monce who performed Miss Piper's surgery.  We are appreciative to Dr. Monce and his staff for their wonderful care of Piper.

In Memoriam

Quinton came to us painfully thin from a shelter in SC.  He would eat but never gained any weight and had chronic diarrhea.  We tried for months to get his medical condition figured out.  He endured test after test, treatment after treatment, but the tests just didn't come up with any explanations.  Quinton finally underwent exploratory surgery and it was found that he had a mass of scar tissue in his abdomen.  The organs and tissues were just all lumped together.  The Vets felt there was nothing to be done to remove this mass of tissue and the decision was made to let Quinton go peacefully to the bridge.

(Click Here for an UPDATE on Quinton's Final Diagnosis)

Dal Pals wants to offer special thanks to Dee Dee Barton who was Quinton's rescuer & foster mom and to Keitha Kirby, one of our wonderful volunteers, who also daily helped care for Quinton.   These two ladies worked tirelessly to nurse Quinton to health and help keep him comfortable.   We also want to thank the wonderful staff at Central Veterinary Hospital in Summerville, SC who cared for Quinton and tried so hard to save him.  We truly appreciate the expert, loving care they provided Quinton and the kindness they extended to us and to Quinton.
